The Abraham’s Market & Grocery building was erected in circa 1926, designed by Trost & Trost. The business was owned by brothers Sam and Loun Abraham. The 1926 structure replaced their previous location one block to the south (where I-10 crosses over Piedras today) which had opened for business in 1917. The Trost building was demolished in 1968 to make way for a larger Grocery Store at the same location. Known as Sam Abraham’s Big 8, it was operated by Mr. Abraham (76 years old) and his son Mitchell Abraham, one of the early independent partners in the well known Big 8 Chain of Groceries in El Paso. The 1968 store building stands today, occupied by a Dollar General store.
