Phillips Dwellings - Trost Society

Phillips Dwellings

An interesting period hand-written notebook page lists buildings that Trost & Trost drew or would draw plans for. Copies of this page are in the possession of the Trost family and other historical enthusiasts, including the Trost Society. Included in this listing are three homes planned by J.W. Phillips to be designed by Trost & Trost and built on Brown Street, between Myrtle and Magoffin in El Paso. According to research provided by archivists Lloyd C. and June F. Engelbrecht, three homes were indeed built within the following year and located at 144, 146 and 148 Brown; although it is unclear whether these were the Trost builds. Today, the 148 address is a vacant lot, and small bungalows occupy 144 and 146 which do not appear to be Trost designs.
