Alhambra Theater - Trost Society

Alhambra Theater

Courtesy of the El Paso History Alliance

The Trost & Trost designed Palace Theater, located at 209 S. El Paso Street, was opened in August, 1914 as the Alhambra Theater. This may be one of the firm’s most discussed designs, featured in architectural websites as a stunning example of Moorish architecture; also featured in historic theater websites as a classic early 19th Century venue.

The theater is most well-known to El Pasoans as the Palace Theater, the name it bore from 1920 until 1993. The building stands today, an iconic display of the creativity of the firm of Trost & Trost.
