The Castle Apartments were an upscale apartment complex designed by Trost & Trost, erected in 1922 and built by Arno Huning, the son of Albuquerque businessman Franz Huning. The structure was built on a portion of the huge Huning Mansion Estate as an investment property. The cost of erection was over $75,000, and the building contained 20 apartments. The building, which was listed in the National Register of Historic Places, was gutted by a fire that started at 8pm on August 4, 2009, and was demolished in 2010, although the owner expressed his intentions to restore the property.
