Bullion Plaza School

Bullion School was completed in 1924 as a Vocational Training center for Mexican, Native American (specifically Apache) and Black students. A 1909 Arizona state law prohibited these students from attending the recently completed Trost & Trost Miami High School, necessitating the creation of Bullion. The building was designed by Trost & Trost in a Neoclassical design, after the local school district requested a school that would look like El Paso’s new High School (also Trost & Trost). Neoclassical features are limited to the center block of the building, however; the remaining structure is an early 20th Century Commercial design.
